Cornell Secures NCAA Spot with Ivy League Triumph

Cornell University’s men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 1 in the nation and boasting a 14-1 record, secured their spot in the NCAA tournament by defeating Princeton 20-15 in the Ivy League championship game on May 4. This victory marks the team’s first Ivy League tournament title since 2018.

The Big Red are riding a 10-game win streak, the longest in the nation, and will enter the NCAA tournament as the top seed. Their next game is scheduled for May 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the University at Albany at Schoellkopf Field.

Co-captain CJ Kirst ’25 led the team against Princeton, scoring four goals and adding three assists. Kirst set another milestone on April 26 by becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading goal-scorer with his 225th career goal against Dartmouth.

In addition to his collegiate achievements, Kirst made history on May 6 when he became the first player selected in the Premier League Lacrosse (PLL) draft by the Philadelphia Waterdogs, joining his three older brothers as professional lacrosse players.
