Cornell Study: Lead Ammunition Endangers Bald Eagles

Cornell University researchers have found that bald eagles, which scavenge deer carcasses, are particularly at risk of lead poisoning from hunters’ ammunition. The study indicates that this exposure to lead may be slowing the recovery of the eagle population since the banning of DDT in 1972. Further details on the research and its impact on animal health can be found at Cornell.edu/Research.
