Cornell Leads FDA to Tackle Lead Baby Foods

Researchers at Cornell University have found that certain baby foods, including fruit juices and sweet potatoes, contain lead. Lead exposure is known to lower children’s IQ and cause behavioral problems. In response to the Cornell findings and advocacy efforts, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued new industry guidance in January. The guidance is aimed at reducing lead levels in baby foods to better protect children’s health.
