Binghamton Police Investigate Abduction Attempt Late Night
Binghamton, NY – The Binghamton Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred at approximately 1:23 AM on September 6, 2025, on Chestnut Street near Lincoln Avenue. Reports indicate that a lone female was forcibly touched and an attempted abduction was carried out by a lone male.
According to the investigation, the suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20s with black hair and a small build. Witnesses noted that he was wearing a thin metallic necklace, a black knit winter hat with a white logo, a white short-sleeve t-shirt, black pants, white socks, and black slippers.
The police are asking residents in the area, specifically those on Chestnut Street, Seminary Avenue, Leroy Street, Lincoln Avenue, Davis Street, Saint John Avenue, and Oak Street between Main Street and Leroy Street, to review any home surveillance footage that might help the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity is encouraged to call the Binghamton Police Department Detective Division at 607-772-7080. If the suspect is seen, individuals are advised to contact the police department’s non-emergency dispatch line at 607-723-5321 or call 911 immediately.
The police department also reminded citizens to follow safety tips when walking, including planning routes in well-lit areas, avoiding desolate areas, and staying aware of their surroundings.
