New York's Craft Beer Scene Thrives Amid National Decline
Staff Report / FLXlocal.org
Craft beer across the United States has entered a significant downturn after decades of growth. In contrast, New York state has maintained its position as the second-highest state in the nation for the number of craft breweries. Local breweries in New York are also increasing their production levels.
Julie Suarez, associate dean for land-grant affairs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University, commented on the state's relationship with local foods and craft beverages. She noted that this connection is deeply rooted in New York's agricultural traditions. Suarez highlighted the innovative efforts from Cornell scientists and researchers, stating that their work, along with education and entrepreneurship training, has positively impacted the craft beer industry.
