**Memorial Held for Fallen Firefighters in Binghamton**

Binghamton, NY – The Binghamton Fire Department held a memorial to honor the memories of Firefighter John C. Russell, Fire Chief John F. Cox, and Fire Captain Donald W. McGeever, who all died in the line of duty on September 29, 1975.

Firefighter John Russell drowned while on duty, and Chief Cox and Captain McGeever lost their lives while attempting to recover his body at the Rock Bottom Dam when their rescue boat capsized.

The community was reminded of the bravery and dedication of these individuals and encouraged to take a moment of silence to reflect on their sacrifice. The memorial served as a poignant reminder of the risks firefighters face while serving their community.
