**Binghamton Firefighter John Gaudet Dies in the Line of Duty**

Charlotte Fire is mourning the loss of Binghamton, New York Firefighter John Gaudet, who died tragically on February 12, 2025, in the line of duty. Gaudet was battling a large fire when a wall collapsed, resulting in critical injuries. Despite being rushed to Wilson Medical Center, he was pronounced dead.

Firefighter Gaudet, 40, served with the Binghamton Fire Department for 11 years. His death occurred late Wednesday night while he was working to contain the massive blaze. In the same incident, two other firefighters sustained injuries but were treated and have now been released.

Beyond his professional dedication, Gaudet was known for his strong connection to the community. A husband and father of three, he devoted his time to mentoring young athletes, particularly in lacrosse, where he served as a youth coach. His commitment to his work and community highlighted his selflessness and bravery.

The Binghamton Fire Department, as well as the wider emergency services community, are mourning the loss of a courageous firefighter. Thoughts and prayers have been extended to the Gaudet family, his fellow firefighters, and those who knew him. Acknowledging his dedication and sacrifice, communities are uniting to honor his memory.
