**Black History Month Celebration at Broome County Public Library**

The Broome County Public Library in Binghamton, NY is honoring Black History Month, which originated in Chicago during the summer of 1915. The event was first introduced by the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History. As recognized by this founding organization, the 2025 theme for Black History Month is **"African Americans and Labor"**. This theme highlights the significant and diverse ways that work—whether free or unfree, skilled or unskilled, vocational or voluntary—has shaped the collective history and experiences of Black individuals.
