Flash Flood Warning Hits Northeastern Pennsylvania

The National Weather Service in Binghamton, New York, issued a flash flood warning at 11:09 AM EDT on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The affected areas include northern Lackawanna County, southwestern Susquehanna County, and northeastern Wyoming County in northeastern Pennsylvania. The warning remains in effect until 2:15 PM EDT.

Doppler radar detected thunderstorms with heavy rain in the warning area at 11:09 AM EDT. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen. The ongoing or expected thunderstorms may cause flash flooding in small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, poor drainage areas, and low-lying areas.

Communities likely to experience flash flooding include Scranton, Carbondale, Tunkhannock, Montrose, Waverly, Archbald, Dickson City, Moosic, Clarks Summit, Rush, Mayfield, Springville, Clarks Green, Dalton, Factoryville, Nicholson, La Plume, Meshoppen, Hop Bottom, and Little Meadows.

Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads and not drive through standing water.
