**Binghamton Community Rallies to Support Fire Department After Loss of Firefighter Gaudet**
The Binghamton Fire Department has expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support it received in the wake of the tragic loss of Firefighter Gaudet, known affectionately as JR. Over the past week, the department and JR’s family have been buoyed by acts of kindness from the Binghamton community and beyond.
In a statement, the department thanked residents, businesses, and organizations for their generosity, which included donations, floral tributes, food deliveries, and countless cups of coffee. These gestures, along with heartfelt messages and kind words, offered comfort and solidarity during a challenging time.
A special acknowledgment was extended to public safety partners and city departments who provided support and assistance. These included the City of Binghamton, led by Mayor Kraham, as well as local law enforcement and emergency services agencies, such as the Binghamton Police Department, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Johnson City Police Department. The support extended to city services like the Binghamton Department of Public Works and BC Transit, as well as state-level organizations such as NYS Homeland Security & Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
Additionally, the department recognized and thanked numerous color guards and pipe bands that participated in honoring Firefighter Gaudet. Groups such as the Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Broome County Celtic Pipes & Drums, and the Philadelphia Police & Fire Pipes and Drums offered moving tributes through music. Others, including the Greater Buffalo Firefighters Pipes and Drums and the NYS Fire Pipes and Drums, also played a role in creating a memorable service to honor JR.
The Binghamton City School District and other individuals and organizations that supported JR’s family and the department were also sincerely thanked for their efforts.
The Binghamton Fire Department underscored how the community’s compassion has been a source of strength for all involved. Their message of gratitude concludes with a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed with actions, big or small, during this period of mourning.
Firefighter Gaudet will be remembered for his service, and the unity displayed by the Binghamton community stands as a testament to the bonds that hold the city together.
