**Binghamton Fire Department Honors Fallen Firefighter with Memorial Fundraiser**

The Binghamton Fire Department is holding a special fundraiser to honor John "JR" Gaudet, a dedicated firefighter who passed away on February 12, 2025. JR Gaudet, remembered as one of "Binghamton's Bravest," was committed to serving the community, and his legacy is being commemorated through a memorial apparel fundraiser.

The online store for the JR Gaudet Memorial Fundraiser will close tomorrow, March 5th, at the end of the day. Proceeds from the sale of apparel will directly support the memorial fund established in his honor.

Supporters can visit the fundraiser's website at https://bfdjr.itemorder.com/shop/home/ to make purchases. Details regarding pick-up will be shared soon.

This is the final opportunity for members of the community to contribute to JR Gaudet’s memorial fund through this initiative. The Binghamton Fire Department encourages everyone to participate and help keep JR's memory alive.

Northeast Pennsylvania faces elevated fire risk after weather alert

The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a Special Weather Statement for parts of Northeast Pennsylvania warning of dry conditions with humidity as low as 25% to 35% and wind gusts of 15 to 25 mph that could fuel rapid wildfire spread, prompting residents in Bradford, Susquehanna, Northern Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike and Southern Wayne counties to avoid ignition sources and debris burning.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for NY, PA

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. EDT for parts of New York and Pennsylvania, including Sullivan County, N.Y., and the northern Lackawanna, central Wayne, northwestern Pike and northeastern Wyoming counties in Pa., as a line of storms moving east at about 30 mph is capable of gusts to 60 mph and hail up to 0.75 inches.

Severe storms, flash flooding forecast for Lackawanna County

The National Weather Service warns that Lackawanna County, Pa., could see severe thunderstorms with damaging winds this afternoon and evening, brief heavy rain that could cause localized flash flooding, a rapid 20-25 degree temperature drop tonight raising the risk of a flash freeze, gusts of 35-45 mph (stronger in the Poconos), a line of strong to severe storms with isolated tornadoes possible, rivers and streams rising into Tuesday, and lake-effect snow likely by late Tuesday.
